The SRCOOL12K portable air conditioning unit pumps 12,000 BTU of cooling power into your IT environment to prevent shutdowns, malfunctions and failures caused by overheating or fluctuating temperatures. Part of the SRCOOL line, this compact, portable unit is perfect for server rooms and other IT environments with heat-sensitive equipment in areas that facility air conditioning cant reach. The self-contained SRCOOL12K is capable of cooling a small room using its louvered vent. A built-in evaporator expels the condensed water through the directional exhaust duct, eliminating the need for a drain tube, drain pan or water collection tank. You can also use the included flexible tube to aim the cold air precisely where its needed most, such as an overheated rack enclosure or an equipment hot spot. The SRCOOL12K also dehumidifies and filters the air, providing better air quality that can enhance equipment performance with little power consumption. Component Type: Server Cooler; Width: 12 3/5"; Depth: 19 3/4"; Height: 32 3/5".

    EXCELLENT !!!!!
We have owned several other cooling units. None compare to the SRCOOL12K. This unit is well built and hopefully will last us for years to come.
Tripp Lite's customer service is top notch.

Great product. Works like a champ!
We've tried several spot coolers over time, some residential grade and some commercial grade from reputable reseller chains. We use it to cool down a small computer room (one server rack and one neworking devices rack).

Installing and operating this device is simple and sraight forward. It's been working for a year now non-stop and we've had no problem with it whatsoever.

    Greatly recommend.

Great AC for an office or server room
Our department maintains its own servers in my office. The buildinds AC is turned off during off hours. It is not uncommon to find my office with the servers to be 90-95 degrees. Several years ago, we purchased a competitors unit that required to be drained and a lot less BTU for more money than this unit. Although I have not installed the duct to the ceiling yet, just my initial tests of turning it on and feeling the cold air show that the unit has 10 times the air flow and cools a lot better than the current APC unit we have. In addition, SRCool12K is not as loud. About a month ago, I purchased a LG portable unit from Home Depot, which has the same type of re-evaporation design as the SR1200. The LG unit does an awesome job of keeping things COLD and NO drain bucket has been needed. The LG unit has been running almost 24/7. I can tell from the SR1200, which is about $150 more than the LG is worth the extra money for a business. The unit was shipped and packaged great. The exhust hose is longer to allow venting through our drop celing and is of a higher grade hose than LG unit. Overall, the SR1200 is a higer quality than the LG unit and I can tell just by running the SR1200 it blows away our older APC cooling unit.

For home use, it is a toss up between the LG and the SR1200 because of the initial cost savings of the LG. However, if I was going to vote on which unit would last the longest, I would say the SR1200.

For Business needing cooling year round, no doubt the SR1200.

Excellent cooling for a great price
My server room is low on space, and full of equipment. Having our building install dedicated cooling was well outside of the budget. After lots of searching, I settled on the SRCOOL12K - I liked the capacity it claimed, but the biggest draw was that I wouldn't need to worry about drainage. Installation was simple, and in no time it was working just as expected. I'm now running two full-time since we've added more servers than a single unit can handle. Both have been running 24/7 for over 18 months without a problem. Highly recommended.

    Works great
Got it yesterday and used it only for a day in our server room, but I am impressed with its cooling power, relatively low noise, professionally looking device. In our tall IT room, temperature was around 91 and the A/C dropped it to 79. I have couple other Tripp Lite devices, they all works fine.

    12K Cooling
I have had the unit running for a week now, very nice unit, quiet and compact design. It cools our small server closet to 70 with no issues. The digital read out is not a temp gauge, it stays at what you set it at, I had to place additional thermometer in the room to see what temp we are really at.

Has worked great 24/7 for over a year !!! No problems!
We purchased this unit for a small server room (12' x 14') about a year ago after suffering a server crash due to heat. We set the SRCOOL12K at 69 degrees and it has worked perfectly. Our building temp stays around 76 degrees from 8-5 then turns off. Our outside temperature averages in the high 90's almost year round. We vented out thru the celing using the celing tile kit that comes with unit (easy install).

    Keep Stuff Cool
After struggling to keep our 8x4 server room cool (even when below freezing outside) we did our research and ended up with a SRCOOL12K and have never looked back. We have had it operational since 7/12 and it has been keeping our room at a nominal 68-70 degrees around the clock with no intervention whatsoever. Highly recommend if you need cooling in a small server room. Easy setup.

    Brrrrr Dogs Cold
I have a Server room in an old building and it is in the interior of the floor so no windows or any way to vent the heat.

This device has a vent system that lets you vent through a drop ceiling.

We installed it in a 300 sq ft server room with 4 servers and 5 workstations running 24/7 and the room is at a constant 65 measured at the server rack!

Makes a huge difference in temperature & humidity!
I share my office with the servers -- the space constraints of a small Library are handled this way -- so it stays pretty warm & humid. Located in a building built in 1937, insulation was never considered and IT needs are an afterthought, so this A/C unit fits the bill perfectly!

    Unbelieveably great product!
I came across this portable AC unit by accident when searching online for a decent unit that would 1) allow on/off by an external, unattended timer, and 2) able to cool very hot spots. I live in Hawaii. I've been plagued for years by using portable "room A/C units", that anyone buys at the local DYI store. Pitiful cooling at best, but then again these standard units are not designed to cool hotspots, just a room in general. Even-though I live in Hawaii, one of Tripplite's resellers on the Mainland had my SRCOOL12K in my room TWO DAYS after purchase! Amazing.

The unit is small, dense, compact, a total powerhouse. When testing in an open room I though it would very loud. Wrong. Once the hot exhaust was connected to my bedroom window (a short, straight path) and the cold output placed where it needed to cool, and everything was else up and operational, this AC unit was remarkably quieter than any of the common DYI store units. The latter always sounded like a space shuttle taking off outside my window, disturbing close neighbors. The SRCOOL12K is not really noticeable outside, I don't know why. Even with my head a foot away from the unit running right next to my bed the white noise is not unbearable.

The unit sits outside of the space I'm cooling. I found a good amount of condensation dripping off the cooling hose because my room is pretty hot. Wrapping towels around the cooling hose seems to insulate it from the hot, humid room.

I've been plagued with summer temperatures in my specific application running around 86-87 degrees F. Now I'm running at 74 degrees F. Perfect. Thank you Tripplite!

Extremely impressed with set up and performance in cooling server room
Received a couple weeks ago and set it up with minimal effort required. After a week or so of operation we decided to reposition the unit in our server room (roughly 10x8) that has rack for servers, SAN, etc and now it points directly into front of rack. Temperature in the room has dropped almost 10 degrees and taken away concern about excessive heat in the room. We are very impressed with its performance, better than even expected. A real winner!

    Excellent server closet cooler
I have been thru 2 other brands that have failed in over 2yrs, so far - the TrippLite model is working great. Best feature is it will turn on when power is restored and can handle small closets with ease with the running 24x7x365.

An inexpensive solution to a real headache
The unit was set up and ready to go right out of the box. We had an issue with insufficient temperature drop initially. We did what we dreaded to rectify this: knocked a hole in the block wall and ducted the exhaust air to the outdoors through insulated flexible ducting. The result was almost immediate: a 12-13 degree drop in temp in minutes.
If you have a small room, and a standard 8 ft. ceiling, plan on ducting the exhaust outside. You'll waste a lot less time than we did!

2 Units, great value, but not without problems
We have 2 of these units: one bought new 6/12/12, the other bought new 10/26/10, so roughly 1 and 3 years old. Barring the first couple months on each, these units have functioned very well keeping a small server room cool enough to keep servers healthy (including through Florida summers with no building AC on weekends). Both units when first ordered failed with an error code within a couple months, call to support for troubleshooting led to returning product. The first one I had to pay about $60 to ship it back for a replacement. The second one happened earlier and so the shipping cost was covered. In both cases the replacement units have worked fine since. Occasionally I find one of them turned off, still powered, but off, other unit still on (in locked room nobody else has access to, no power interruption because I receive alerts if this happens and nothing else shows signs of power outage). In the summers this has meant a trip into the office on the weekend or at 2 or 3am or whenever on a weekday once in a while to turn it back on (get alerts from a room temp monitor). A minor inconvenience given the value of these units. I would not normally have reviewed these here, but just received an e-mail from Tripp-Lite asking me to do so. As only non-five star review now, maybe they'll regret the request.

    Excellent AC Unit
We have been running the SRCOOL12K for over a year, and it has run flawlessly. Despite building AC, we still experience heat buildup in our server room. This unit has done an excellent job of taking the edge off and keeping our server room cool. It runs 365 days a year and 24x7.

Honestly, I think it would be a great spot AC unit for the home it works so well. It runs much better than some of the cheap portable units you see at Costco.

    Works well for our needs
I have an enclosed office that has 2 air inlets, six sets of florescent lights, and no air return in a building built in 1937. There is no insulation, the thermostat for the entire floor is located outside my office, and there is a 12" drop ceiling. With the 2 servers, 2 UPS units, five PCs, networking equipment and a laser printer in the room, it gets very hot, humid & stuffy in here.

This unit is set at 69Ð’ÐŽF and is vented into the ceiling for now, and let me tell you, it has made all the difference in the cooling needs of this room and its equipment! The servers no longer scream when the outdoor temperature rises above 90.

We were able to move our server into a closet allowing room for an extra work station. Easy to install with the exhaust through the wall to the shop.

    End of worries
plug it in, hook up the exhaust, set your temp, and no more worries about overheating server rooms. Been running close to two years now without any issues whatsoever. Only one recommendation: Drive a couple of screws through the exhaust tube into the fittings at either end to prevent the tube from slipping off.

We use it as a backup A/C unit in an 8'x8' computer room
We've had this installed for almost two years now. It's plugged into a thermostat power outlet that supplies power when the computer room overheats due to a failure of the primary A/C unit (which was happening with increasing frequency). This unit has kicked on several times over the past year. The last time was just a little over a month ago when our primary unit finally died. The SRCool12K ran for several days keeping the equipment cool until we could replace the primary unit. I'm very happy with it's performance and I highly recommend this unit.

Great backup AC in our data center
We bought 2 of these units to act as a backup to our data center when the main unit freezes (mainly in the winter). I really like that these units don't require a condensate drain. That made installing them really easy. I will likely buy another 1-2 for our offsite data center.

Good unit that has excellent recovery after power outage
Our number one requirement is that when power returns the unit must be able to restart and run automatically. All other units we looked at did not restart after power returned. This was a unique feature that the other competitors did not have. This was the reason we purchased these units because all our servers and phone system component reboot automatically when power returns.

    Portable reliability
We needed an emergency cooler - something that could be deployed to keep things running. That means light weight, wheels, and intake/exhaust ducting. It also means simple to operate and reliable. We have had to deploy a couple times to support failed cooling; this unit has kept us operating every time!

Good for the cost. Nice for small network closets.
We've had this running in a wiring closet with a Cisco 4507 and some other smaller Cisco gear. Was an easy installation and haven't really had any issues. When we first brought it online we didn't have the drain plug in all the way so we had water on the floor but after pushing that in all the way the condensate just gets pushed out with the exhaust air. Thinking about getting its big brother for a small server room in a place that won't work for a split system.

My SRCOOL12K was just what I needed for my recording studio.
I needed a cooling solution for my studio to keep my studio recording equipment cool and at the proper temperature during the hot months here in AZ. I also needed something that would make me feel better about not introducing any dust from outside into my studio. And thenÉ.. I found out about the TrippLite SRCOOL12K and after reading all about it believed I finally had found just what I needed to meet my needs and now that I've finally received it and installed it and my SRCOOL12K has turned out to be just that. It cools really fast and also filters the air to keep all my audio recording gear in my studio from even indoor dust and particles and I am very pleased that I made this purchase and I highly recommend it to others who have the same need and want to keep your expensive electronics cool, clean, and safe. Of course, I shut it off when I'm going to record vocals and audio with my studio microphone because everything has to be quiet, and I cool the room down real good first before I shut it off. But other than that, I run it when I writing and making my music. The SRCOOL12K is a great solution for me and my studio and I'm relieved. :)

    Closed system, terrible
I needed information on recharging this unit and Tripp Lite customer service was no help. They kept repeating that they just replaced the units and didn't repair them. I finally called an appliance repair person and was told they are closed systems and aren't rechargeable.

    FANTASTIC UNIT! LOW MAINTENANCE!
We have been looking for a unit for our small network room for a long time...and when our building recently started turning off the A/C on the weekends, we had to find something, quick!! This thing is absolutely the perfect size for our room and keeps the room and our equipment cool. The biggest draw was that it is basically maintenance free and no dumping of condensation bottles!!! Thank you Tripp Lite!

Great product backed by great support
Un-boxed and running in 30 minutes. Like many that have posted reviews here, our "server" room was really not designed to house lots of heat-generating equipment.

Prior to the Tripplite AC, the server room would hit 88 degrees on any given day. We set the set point at 72 and the AC has been running fine.

We are still trying to get the SRCOOLNET configured. Implementing that has not been as straightforward as the AC was.

Out server room is in the center of a basement in an old 1911 house. It has no room ventilation or cooling system. This unit runs 24/7 and keeps our equipment cool. We vent the unit through an old access panel in the room's wall. No issues and it's been running for almost 1 year now.

    Backup Cooling Units
The SRCOOL12K are a great option for backup cooling of our CRAC unit. They are affordable and more convenient then having to rent portable coolers. With the condensate being discharged along with the exhaust air, there is no need for a container that has to capture the condensate. These units can run over a weekend with no concern with shutting down due to a full condensate container. They are small enough to fit inside our server room and have casters to easily move them out of the way when needed.

    Don't overload
This unit works very well indeed, but if the room you're trying to cool is too large or too hot, the unit might shutdown. If it cannot dissipate enough heat through the exhaust tube, it will stop cooling. There's a limit to what 12k can cool.

Best Choice for Server Room AC
We have not regretted our choice of the SRCOOL12K for our server room.

We have been running it non-stop for well over two years, without a problem.

We simply clean the screen filters once a month. That's it!

The SRCOOL12K is a lifesaver for our equipment. We run 4 physical servers, as well as 4 computers that reside in the server room. Needless to say, without the SRCOOL12K, things can get pretty toasty.

I would recommend the SRCOOL12K without hesitation.

This unit works great. It's nice to have a unit that doesn't need a drain connected. We use this unit 24/7/365 and it still cools like the first day we installed it.

Low cost solution for small server room
Was easy to set up. Need to vent the exhaust out of the room (all included with quick and simple set up). Great solution for small server room, no need to worry about condensation. This unit can run 24/7. Good product with little maintenance.

    This product met my needs
I have an 8x24' office where I have 4 servers and other equipment rack mounted. The temperature was consistently over 83*F. I installed the SRCOOL12K near the rack and exhausted it through the drop ceiling to an open shop area. The temp now is 74*F. Plus I notice a difference in air quality. Great product

Rough Start But Working Well Now
We ordered two of these units for some additional cooling in our server rooms. The two units we purchased both failed within a couple of months of use. They just wouldn't power on any more. However, TrippLite replaced both units and the replacements have been running non-stop since receiving them.

    2nd issue with this model
I would recommend getting a different model, this has not been reliable.

We used this AC unit for additional cooling in a server room. Last April the unit would not turn on; so we contacted Tripp Lite support and they replaced it for free since it was under warranty.

Last week the replacement AC unit was running louder and today it will not blow at all.  However it is now out of warranty so we must buy a replacement.

The older model AC unit we have is still running like a trooper, but we've gone through 2 of these.

    Unreliable
I bought one of these units for a small server room that is about 14x8 after 6 months it wouldn't turn on. Called in and got the unit RMA'd. The replacement unit has been unable to keep a similar temperature without dehumidifying every 15 minutes or so. Attempting to have this Unit RMA'd as well.

    Unit Fails
We Purchase a previous Iteration of this unit almost two years ago. The Fan disintegrated one weekend.  We RMAed it and are currently on our THIRD replacement unit. Within 3 months two replacement units had failed.
This new version seems to have Compressor issues. In addition to the extremely high rate of failure our server room runs a good 5 degrees hotter with the new "Enhanced" version.
We are now outside of our original warranty and will not be purchasing a trip-lite coolers again.

    Not built for long life
Check the unit often for any rust colored dust accumulating on the top of the unit / around the air exhaust ports.  This is a sign that the unit is rusting away internally and will soon die.  Ours worked great for 14 months before the internal components had corroded to the point that the refrigerant leaked and the unit failed.  No help from Tripplite despite the fact that using sheet metal in an air conditioner is a substantial and obvious design flaw.

    Miss advertised
We purchased the SRCOOL12k to cool our 6.5 x 8 ft server room.  The website advertised the fact it was designed for small server rooms or closets.  The first unit failed within 6 months.  A replacement unit was sent, it lasted 5 months.  A replacement unit was sent, it just failed within 6 months.  Tech support tells me today that it was designed as secondary cooling not primary.  This seems contrary to the advertising on the website.  Needless to say I won't be buying any more Tripplite products.

    not trustworthy
This unit has failed twice on us within 4 month.
They replaced it the first and second time.
We use it as a backup for our main AC and while it doesn't need to run often it needs to be dependable.
It is not ! I can't even imagine running this as my main unit anywhere!

    Basic server room cooler, excellent
This unit replaced a DeLonghi Penguino designed for home use. Its BTU rating is lower, but it performs better. We don't need to drain it nearly as often, and its vent fixtures are useful & appropriate.

Our first unit worked for almost a year with no issues and cooled our server room exactly as expected. The compressor broke, but I'm still giving this unit 5 stars because Tripp Lite customer service was great with sending a replacement very quickly with little hassle. The second unit has been going strong!

Perfect solution for our cooling needs
Upgraded to the SRCOOL from a window air conditioner. Not only is it cooling better but it circulates the air better eliminating hot spots that would occasionally trigger our temperature sensors. And when the one we bought decided to turn itself off, the TRIPP-LITE sent us a replacement.

Couldn't be happier with the device and the company.

    Happy with my purchase
This product has done what I purchased it for: keep a small-ish room cool.  I had to send in my unit to be warranty replaced about 8 months into it's life.....and the warranty replacement they sent me didn't work either....but the next replacement did work and is still working great for me.  I like the slim design (doesn't take up too much room) and I like the ducting that you can use to direct the cold air where you want it to go.  I also like the auto-restart feature that remembers what I had the temperature set at EVEN AFTER 7 DAYS OF OUR POWER BEING OUT!!! :)  Not a bad unit...I would probably buy it again.  A little spendy, but appears to be a bit more durable than other portable AC units.

    SRCOOL ICING UP
I'm on my second SRCOOL12K now and the first one ran for years with no issue until it died. The new one I've had for only about 6 months and it's icing up all the time. lots of space around it and vented out.

Ideas as to why this is happening? Super frustrating.

    Very happy so far!
We use it in a 7x7 enclosed room with 5 servers in it.  There is also a pc, battery backup, and a switchboard in the room.  It was easy to install.  The included vent kit goes neatly up into the drop ceiling without issue.  It has been running like a champ since it was installed.  Have had running about 9 months so longevity is to be determined.  Very pleased with the product so far.  Easily keeps the room at our set point of 76F; even through the hot summer when the room was extra hot.  Great product.

    Awesome when they work
I have two of these (well, only one now) going in my "server room" (basically a cramped attic space in our office).  I also have another one going in our other office's server room (a proper server room - minus some built in AC).  They work great and put out a lot of cold air.  I had one die within the warranty period (compressor went out, I think) and they were great about sending me a replacement. I recently had another one go out (not sure exactly why yet - haven't investigated). I'll keep using them and will replace them as needed because they work great - I just wish they had a bit longer lifespan.

    Get the extended warranty
Worked reasonably well till 18 months in this unit self destructed, the blower fan fell apart and threw peices of plastic around the room. Since there are no serviceable parts on the unit it is now trash. The 4year old LG next to it is still running well.

    Just what we needed!
It seems like we have the air conditioning go out about once a month and it usually takes two days or longer to get it working again.  This Tripp-Lite Portable Air Conditioning keeps my computer room temperature where it needs to be and saves the servers!  It's easy to use and operate.  I now leave it running all weekend when I am not here to monitor the temp in the computer room.  I HIGHLY recommend this unit and I wish I had gotten it two years ago!

    Great Server Room Cooling!
I have used a SRCOOL12K unit in my server room for the past 5 years. I just bought a new one and WOW! I really liked my 5 year old unit but really love the new version! Quit, efficient, easy to operate! I don't mean to geek out about it but I have over $150K worth of equipment in the room so this unit serves a very important purpose.

So far so good. Very powerful
It may be too early to write this review, because its important to see how durable and how long this nice unit lasts.  Its very easy to set up, it has a  small footprint for a 1 ton unit, and it really does blow out powerful, cold air. So, thus far, i love it.  It is supposed to be able to run 24x7 inside computer server rooms all day and night.  I dont run it at night at all for my purposes, as im using it to just cool a peice of equipment only during the day, as we shut the equipment off all night.  So, im expecting for this unit to last a long time, and it should be well built. I love that it doesnt need a  water tray to be emptied, or drainage system to get rid of the condensation and evaporation.  It is a self contained unit. Thats great.  Its a quality looking machine, so i feel comfortable putting it anywhere.  Ive read almost all the reviews on this portable AC, from different sites, and it mainly got good reviews. However, the one major complaint was that when it was run 24x7, 365 days per year, it dies after about 10 months. AC compressors and units arent designed to run all day and night. So, i hope it last a long time, and is built strong enough to last several years.  In the small amount of negative reviews that i read, the company was great to deal with, and if it died within the one year warranty, they had no problem sending the customer a brand new unit.  I have many other portable ac units that i use for several of my businesses that run hot equipment all day.  And, in the first month, this AC seems to be the most powerful cold air portable AC that i have, compared to my other units.  I have some other 1 ton, 3/4 ton, and 1/2 ton units, and the blower seems to be more powerful than my others, and the digital buttons are very easy to use. So far after a month of rigorous use, it seems to be a well built, great unit.

    Great product!
    (2) units were purchased to cool a 15' x 15' server room and both units have been running for 2-1/2 years without issue. The hot air discharge can be vented above the ceiling tiles in a drop ceiling, the units do not create water, they are portable and can keep a consistent temperature at 67 degrees. The only required maintenance is cleaning the air filters each month. (2) additional units were purchased recently to cool training rooms 14' x 20' and 18' x 22' with (5) computers in each rack.

    First Rate.
Used to replace a through-the-wall type air conditioner, my new Tripp-Lite is far more quiet, more effective in cooling the area  than the 15,000 BTU unit that it replaced, And, it provides control and air direction options that give user choices that are very helpful.  I am using the unit in a domestic environment where it has proven to be far superior in every way to other portable units that I have previously bought. I consider it entirly suitable for domestic use. Having been successful in keeping us cool through a long patch of record setting hot weather, it has proved highly efficient and effective. I have already recommended it to others and I may buy additional units for myself.

    SRCOOL12k
We purchased this portable unit as a supplemental A/C to our small Data Center's main unit. As we grew we realized we had out grown the cooling capacity of our main above ceiling mounted Leibert unit. This was the perfect unit to keep our DC cool during the summer months.

It was really easy to setup and really does a great job of supplementing our main unit. It's quiet and programmable so that it's not cooling when not needed. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a portable AC solution. Great product.

I give this AC 4 stars only because it goes together so easy with the included intake and exhaust pipe, but with off-the-shelf tubing, it is a little cumbersome.

It is keeping my 700 Sq Ft. Florida garage at 85F, its 100F outside, I have 3 refrigerators fighting the AC. I'm happy!

    Cool a/c unit (pun intended).
Easy installation and it's simple to operate.  Works well in our 10 x 12 server room.  We purchased this one and with shipping it totaled around $600, money well spent considering how well the unit works.  I just wish they offered longer than a 1 year warranty.  Other than that, I have no complaints.

    Not recommended
We have been through 3 of these in 3 years; the first one just died after a few months, would not turn on at all.  The second one lasted the longest (about two years), but eventually turned into a fan just blowing air around our server room without cooling anything.  Number 3 seems to be headed the same way as number 2, with the added bonus of the evaporator no longer working.  We're going to a more expensive, more permanent and hopefully more trustworthy solution.

    Great for server room UPS
We have a large UPS that was overheating our server room despite the large split HVAC that was sized for the room. We were able to eliminate the heat issue by giving the UPS its own cooling unit, blowing cold air directly into it. Venting the heat through the dropped ceiling helped considerably. We also purchased the remote monitor.

Great unit but does not last.
I'm not typically in the habit of writing reviews, but as I've now gone through two of these units in under 3 years I felt compelled to share the experience.  Purchased the first unit in 2014 through Provantage. Good price, great unit, worked wonderfully to keep our small server room cool (room is less than 50 s.f.).  About 15 months later the compressor failed. Provantage says "sorry", contact manufacturer.  Tripp Lite says "sorry, we don't fix them. Find a local HVAC repairman."  Well I obtained a full refund through my business Visa card company, which extends warranties up to another full year. Thinking I must have just struck a bad unit, and having the refund, I purchased the same unit again from Provantage in July 2016.  Well yesterday this one failed same as the first.  Out of warranty of course.  No recourse with vendor or manufacturer.
The kicker is that we've not overworked the unit, it's a small room, the hose is properly vented out of the room, the temp is set to 78 so it's not running 24/7... yet it doesn't last event 18 months.  Lesson learned, will seek a different brand, spend a bit more and hopefully get something with more endurance.

Works well, but not for long
We have two of these units in our server room, One died a month out of warranty (1 year warranty), and Tripp lite who claims to be committed to customer satisfaction refuses to do anything about the situation. I went a step ahead and purchased an air conditioner that was double the cost of a store model because it was supposed to last. Why doesn't tripplite step up and stand behind their products? Very disappointed. I will stick to A P C for future server equipment i know that. They get 5 stars in customer satisfaction. Tripplite even filters people from using A P C in their reviews!

Best Self-Contained Air Conditioning Unit Ever!
You gotta love Tripp Lite!  It is hot now in California...  Who would have thought?  I worked for Tripp Lite for many years, was so excited when we got this product because every single customer I brought this to wanted to keep this, they tried it out, bought them for every single MDF and IDF locations they could... and then they ended up buying more.  Now I am recommending this product for people in condominium type complexes where the the association won't allow interior/exterior a/c units.  This is fully self contained, comes on rollers...  what the heck else could you ask for?

    Good price and solid performace
This is used in a network switching room with moderate cooling needs (rack of switches and routers, no servers).

This is more of a 'just in case' type of situation.  The exhaust is sent into the AC return in the drop ceiling and since this unit does not require draining, we basically just plugged it in, sent the included outlet into the ceiling and turned it on.  Been running for some time without issue.  Doesn't take long to cool the room down (under 200 sq ft).

I noticed one of the mentioned they don't last long in his review.  I have to agree.  We used these in our courtroom closets where the audio/network equipment rack is held, 6 courtrooms, and in 3 and half years we've had to replace 3.  One the fan blades disintegrated, A second would get an iceberg on the side, and  the 3rd was inconsistent cooling where the display panel is jumping all over the place.  I like the size and ease, but buying a new unit every year as a replacement isn't feasible.  Investigating other brands, and units.

Can these be run 24/7? and if so how long should the unit last?  And can they be repaired?  I hate discarding these things even it is it to a recycling company.

So far so good after three weeks of use
We're using this little guy to help cool a multi-purpose IT room about 120 sq ft with 6 rack-mounted servers and around 15 network devices.  It does the job nicely and, for the size, quietly.  My only frustration was trying to get the ceiling adapter mounted.  The exhaust hole was cut directly in the middle of one of the pieces making it impossible to install it along the short edge of the drop ceiling.  Installing it along the long edge was less desirable and is not as secure.  The tube is a pain to get into both ends as well.  Once installed, however, hot air exits to the ceiling well enough.  The best part is no drain or bucket!  Given the room is in a basement there aren't many cost efficient options for drainage.  This unit fit our needs adequately and is easy to use!

    Great little workhorse!
It's a great little AC, I have it working on a small 5'x7' server room and it's got more than enough capacity for what i need.
Being self-evaporative is awesome because I didn't have any good way to push water out of my server room.
It is a little noisy even when not on a full blast cooling cycle because the fans appear to always run at all times, but then again this is made for server rooms where noise is not a factor.
The flexibility of the exhaust and cool air pipes allow for some interesting setups. But proper heat exhaust is a must because this little AC will produce a lot of it while running a full cooling cycle.
All in all it appears to be a great unit so far. I'm only afraid of longevity because there are multiple accounts on the internet of it breaking early in its lifespan. If the standard warranty was longer than 1 year it would probably put peoples minds more at ease. I know it would to me.

We would buy again and recommend
Using in our server room to keep computer equip. cool - works great but started icing up about 10 months after purchase - BUT - best thing is how quickly Tripplite resolved the issue.  After review of all the possible solutions to trouble shoot - they determined best course of action was to send a new unit to us.  We got it, installed it and working great.  Shipped the other unit back and should be no additional costs.

So far nothing beats Tripp lite for me..
We have been using this product for three years, and it's still running very well. Other AC brand doesn't even last a year if you use them 24/7, but our first Tripp lite server AC has been running since 2016 and still running well until now.

Really A/C for our server room.  Great supplementary A/C to help keep the room at the temperature that we need.

    Warranty Replacement
This product is a replacement for a unit that failed while under warranty. The failed unit was in service for 8 months and the coils started icing. I have used Tripp Lite Cooling Units without issues for years and I am thankful that Tripp Lite replaced the unit.
