ADS1700W Wireless Compact Color Desktop Scanner with Duplex and Touchscreen

I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. What a great, affordable  and convenient product! I love the compact design and ease of setting up!  We live in a WiFi era and this product is a great addition to my technology family!! It is portable, light and compact and can be moved/placed or taken anywhere!! I love that you can download an app and scan directly to your phone and send it via email, text or save it as a Jpeg  or pdf. Use can also scan directly to the computer or to a usb drive and use it in the go! I also found it very convenient that it scans 2 sided without having to manually flip the pages rather scans both sides at once! Genius!It scans really fast and compared to other scanners on the market it is more affordable. For me personally i do not have the need of scanning credit card/business card/insurance cards. However, I tested this out they the card feeder and it was slower and had to manually insert them one by one. If I was in need of scanning numerous cards daily i might reconsider a scanner that can do multiple and feed automatically, not sure if there even is one on the market that does something like this. Overall, it is a great product and will definitely recommend.

I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I received this scanner and removing it from the packaging was very simple. You just take it out of the box and plug it in. It`s compact size and would be easy to transport if needed from office to office. Took me a few minutes to get the settings correct and understanding the buttons but after that it is quite simple to use. I tested it out by scanning a previously crumpled paper and it fed through easily. As well as I scanned in a 12 page report and all the fonts and colors were captured perfectly. I would definitely recommend this for the average person with scanning needs. Not sure how it would hold up with large continuous portions. My favorite part is the size of it. Doesn`t take up much space at all and has a decent design.

I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I thought the scanner was initially quite small. My husband helped me install it, and he said there were a lot of instructions to follow and drivers to upload, etc. so it didn`t seem the most intuitive item. However, the wireless connectivity works wonderfully, and it scanned my first document so fast I was impressed. The quality of the image was also sharp, and then it gave us options to print it, save it, etc, so we didn`t have to go searching for the document in our computer in order to see it. All in all quite the little scanner! We are happy with it.

The scanner works well and is fast enough for my needs, getting rid of paper in my home.  However it is let down by the desktop interface that is saddly lacking some features that would make it so much easier to use and seem easy for Brother to implement.  The interface allows you to create workflows that enable you to save documents in a variety of formats, with unique filenames and in a variety of locations. Thus, for instance, I can set workflows to save prescriptions for my wife and myself to the same folder location with filenames that indicate the owner.  This is great, but the workflows are only saved in the order they are created, they cannot be sorted by name for example.  Once you have developed a collection of workflows this becomes a necessity.  Even nicer would be the ability to also group workflows in groups such as Medical, Utilities, Car etc.

I think this scanner is great.  It is very fast, does two sided scans in a single pass, and is incredibly fast.  The ADF is a bit flimsy, but I guess that's because the overall footprint of the scanner is very small to make it very portable.  There is also no outfeed tray, so you need to have room in front of the scanner for the outfeed.\

I'm also very happy with the Brother scanning software, iPrint and Scan.  It also comes bundled with PaperPort software, but that produces scans with a watermark unless you upgrade (purchase) from Nuance.  I was going to do that, but decided it was totally unnecessary since the Brother software works so well.  One feature that is great - you can scan additional documents ( as in when you have too many pages for the ADF ) and add them to your PDF with the simple click of "Add Pages) button.\

All in all, this is a great addition to my home office.  Did I say that it was FAST!  And quality is excellent.
