Discarded 2 separate "smart straw" (3/4 full) cans because the spray nozzle would not work. Guidance from friends at WD40 suggested rotating the nozzle top but still did not work. Nice concept, but prefer the original spray can that works , but, I cannot find it !

WD-40 is the only Product to use for,,,
I use WD-40 for so many things. I keep my own can in under the kitchen sink. My hubby knows he better leave my can alone. If he can't find his can in the garage then its time to clean it. Its wonderful for cleaning off black heel marks on the floor. I've used it on gum in the kids hair. Crayon marks on a window seal.ВќSqueakyВќdoor hinges and the list goes on and on. The best thing is getting spray paint off my hands, arms, hair and any other place I end up with paint. It also works great onВќpermanentВќmarker on skin.Вќ

I have been using the new smart straw for a couple of years. And unfortunately it does not work very well. The mist feature when the smart straw is down fails when the can is half full and no amount of shaking will correct this from happening. This has been an issue with a dozen or more cans. Please bring back the old spray nozzle, it may not be as convenient but it worked. I will not be purchasing this product any longer because of all the half empty cans I have had to throw away.

being a Life long user of WD40 , I would like to see one thing improve. When the new nozzles Вќstarted I have noticed alot of product is left in the can and can not be sprayed from the can. This is product we is wasted since the can will not spray the remaining WD40. never had this problem with the oid spray cans! ВќI also talked to other people who have noticed the same problem.

I have two cans with the new 'permanent' straw... neither one sprays when I push it, then it drizzels out unpredictably, and 'keeps on go'in' after I let up creating a real mess and putting the lube everywhere but where I want it. Haven't seen an upgrade this bad since OFF started using the integrated plastic valve designed to keep morons from spraying themselves in the face (I guess). - Mac

Keep Your Stencils Clean!
WD-40 is fantastic for keeping industrial stencil wheels and paint screens clean. Just spray on before use, and at the end of the day wipe the paint off with a rag. No more dry paint buildup, no more ruining your stencils by scraping dried paint off with chisels etc. The paint just flakes off, and it works regardless of the type of paint. WD-40 rocks!

I love this product. My dad is a farmer, and so is my fiance. We use WD-40 for EVERYTHING. I also dabble in "picking" and sometimes when I need to take something apart to clean it and the bolts are rusted, I just use a quick squirt of WD-40 and it comes right off. Thank you for this wonderful product!

the Greastest of all time!
I've been buying this for a while now and have found many uses for it. I always spray the rubber lining on the doors, engine to keep them from drying out.another great use is that i coat my motorcycle with it even the tires in the winter.Dry Winter weather can crack tires .A coating on the metal protects form rust.I even get up under my SUV and spray the metal bolts and my locks from freezing shut House locks the same.

Very good product and design
I've been using WD-40 for a long time. Getting rust off, bolts loose and even as fishing bait. NEVER have I been disappointed with any product from WD-40.
The Smart Straw was perfect, since most of the time I lost the straw off of a new can. All I got to do now is flip the straw up or down for whatever application I need to do.

Best think since sliced bread...
Thank goodness for 'smart straw'; we always used to keep a can of WD-40 in our trunk, and invariably, the straw would 'disappear'. Ever since smart straw has been part of the delivery system, we've not had that problem. Favorite use for WD-40? Sticky key locks!

Smart Straw doesn't hold up
This is my second can of WE-40 with the smart straw. AFter the first stopped spraying with at least half a can remaining, I looked for the product (which is truly great) without the straw but I couldn't find it. So I bought it again with the straw and the same thing has happened. The can is nearly full this time, but I can't get the stuff out of it. I rely on WD-40, have tried alternatives that don't work as well, but unless I can find it without the smart straw, I'll have to give up on it.В

I LOVE the new permanent straw!
My husband and I both use WD40 regularly. He ALWAYS looses the straw! Now I buy a can for him and a can for me. He is not allowed to use my can with the smart straw. I have used this product for many years for all kinds of things around my home. I am a "handy"woman and use it for cleaning and loosening "stuck"screws and bolts.

Many Uses and you cant lose the straw!
I used to deliver refridgerators many years ago. This was great for removing tape residue off the surface of the fridge during unpacking at the delivery site. Never compromized the finish of the appliance.
Also everyone should have some use for this product around the home

Still the same great product, but...
...I still prefer the original packaging. The Smart Straw can has a slight delay after you 1st push the plunger down... and then a slight delay after you release it. For small spray applications, the Smart Straw unit is just harder to modulate.

WD-40 - - what would one do without it?
I've been using WD-40 it seems forever. В Since my early days as a GM mechanic (in the 70s) I ALWAYS had a can (or two) in my box. В From lube to fixing squeaks, etc., I even found that it would safely remove overspray from my tool box from when painting engine/parts.

New "smart straw" not so smart.
I used to love this product, with the old cans with a straw hooked to the side. This new design is terrible. I bought a can, and after using half it decided to quit spraying. So i bought another can, it did the same thing. I decided to give it one more try, and to no avail, another can quit spraying once it was half used. I'm not the only issue. I have watched friends smash these cans into the ground or throw them across the shop they were so mad due to the same exact thing happening to them multiple times. I now buy the penetratingId lubricant on the same shelf for half the price and it works until the can is empty and does just what I need it to do. I have tried returning these cans to the store, I collected all of mine, my friends, and families half empty cans (10+ cans) and put them in a box and took them back to where i purchase them. They told me there was nothing they could do about it. I will never purchase this product again.

Before discovering this wonderful product, some of my tools got rusty sitting in the garage for just a month or two. I know table saws are particularly prone to rust because of all the wood rubbing on the surface. I've been using WD-40 to spray a light coating on my table saw after each use ever use since it was new. I've had that saw for 25 years now and the surface is still rust free.

It works well for the initial period. After a while, the fine spray bit gets blocked and makes it unusable. It can be better designed to allow for better use in dirtier environments, which is what I would like to see happen since the straw works great for hard to reach places.

The problem I find, is when you get down В to 3rd of Liquid left in the can. Its lost pressure. the smart strew seemed to be the worst for this problem.every can that I buy does this.and this spray with the can upright.and if you try to spray В upside down it loses pessure, I would try putting more air pressure, and less liquids in it,so I can finish the can

An Old Faithful, That Can't Be Beat!
WD-40 is such a versatile product, no home should be without it! When my snow blower chute was rusted to the body of the blower, I gave it a full spray all the way around and waited for a couple of minutes and I was back in business. This stuff is a "Godsend" for keeping things running and keeping the cash in your pocket when you don't have to replace rusted or seized equipment.

On of my most often used tools.
I restore and customize old motorcycles as a hobby. I use WD for a multituide of things in the process. Of course freeing stuck parts is a big one, but I store a lot of parts (protective coating), clean old parts (removes a lot of "barn find" grime), saves old control cables (penetrant), and on and on.
It seems some days That I have a can of WD in my hand more often than a wrench!

I love that you can till get the wide spray or just flip up the straw. В You are not stuck one or the other. В One moreВ bonusВ is you can make the switchВ easilyВ while wearing glovesВ somethingВ that can not be said for the regular straw. В I still wish they sold theВ originalВ little red straws on their own.

I bought this new version because the can I already had has no propellent left and the can is still half full. I know your product is very good but I am disappointed that I wasn't able to use up the other can. This has never happened before as I've used WD40 for many years.

I dont know about anyone else but I never lost the straw!! Seriously I always kept that little piece of tape on and just made sure that it stayed by putting another one at the bottom with the end where it wouldnt slip out. Call me weird but my in my garage everything has a place and never had a problem.

WD-40 Has Never Let Me Down!
There are many brands of penetrants/lubricants out there. And yes, some of them work pretty good. But, the only one that's never let me down is WD-40. The smart straw is the topping on the cake. No more losing the straw. It's also a must when working under a car without a hydraulic lift.

The Smart Straw really is smart
Trying to stick a WD-40 soaked plastic straw back in the tape on the can was always aВ hassle, leaving it on theВ nozzle means not replacing the cap. В Either way, good chance you will loose the straw. В The Smart Straw solves the problem.В В

Just picked up my first can with smart straw and very disappointed.
There is serious blow-by where the pivoting straw meets the nozzle. This results in 1/2 the WD-40 dribbling down the can and the other half coming out the straw.
That is of course assuming the straw is at the perfect angle to match with the can nozzle....if its off by just a little...all of the wd-40 will dribble down the can. Always loved WD-40, just want the original can with the detachable straw.

The " you can lose it" straw makes it perfect!
If you can only have one spray can of lubey stuff, this is it. When it is backed up by a website for uses, it tells you how useful it is. It's like a survival tool in a can! I'm afraid of running out so I keep a backup!

Excellent! Thanks from Russia truckers
my truck drivers using WD-40 to clean and disassembling, to easily removing U-bolts, wheel nuts and many different bolts.
Especially good effect with abundant wetting nuts for a few days before the showdown, then unscrew it all like new!
But unfortunately, a lot of fakes, we distinguish the original packing Smart Straw (by the way is very convenient, special thanks)

I have bought a few cans of Smart Straw, but this is the first time I have had a problem. В I tossed the can into a bucket of plumbing parts and tolls when I was cleaning up and the pipe wrench rested against the spray button, partially emptying the can. Back in the old days, there was a cap.

So many uses it is unbelievable.
My deceased mothers house's well was not dug deep enough so there was a lot of rust in the sinks toilets washing machine. She had a caregiver and I went over to her house to do some things and found the kitchen sink sparkling. She never told me what she used. I know it was WD-40. It was in the garage. I have it where I live all the time for different things. Awesome product that you have created and always something new coming out too. Love your products. Thanks so much.

Had the "smart straw" can fall over and the top fall off. Put it back on and while it looked all right at the time over the next couple of hours it slowly emptied the can on my garage shelf. While others complained of half of the can remaining when the propellent ran out I must have gotten the new improved model as mine was completely empty. Like someone already mentioned I won't be buying the product until you return the old model can.

I LOVE WD40, the first time I had door locks that were jammed and could not get in the house, I sprayed them good. Got in and then a friend said my locks would be worse when the WD 40 jammed them, I wrote the Company. They told me how safe it is. A spot on my carpet that had been there for years and nothing removed it. Well a spray of WD, paper towel and it was gone, also took double sticky tape off the carpet. В WD40 is my new best friend.

nightmare spray/straw design
The new "smart straw" can is a nightmare! There doesn't appear to be a way to stop the spray-action when using the straw so what happens is the wd-40 dribbles out the top spray hole, down the can and on to everything -- floors, hands, clothes. I tried to use it displace dampness in the track of a sliding door and ended up with a puddle on my floor. I had to hold the can so the product coming out the top ran down the straw into the track. It took 4 paper towels and 2 large napkins to mop up the puddle! I'm not sure how I will get it out of my rug which was over a foot away and still got wd-40 on it. I hope I can find the original spray can because if this applicator type is the only option I will stop buying the product.

The smart straw does not work very well at all. В This is the second time it has happened. В When you flip the straw up, it is supposed to stream through the straw, except it doesn't. В The spray comes out of the top and goes everywhere and not to where yo want it. В The spray option doesn't work much better. В Horrible design and a waste of money. В I am going back to the small can.

Swiveling action parts are made of inferior plastic for the intended use, Have 2 cans where the lugs either broke off or became deformed. There is also no sealing when the straw is in the up position and it does leak at that joint.
Much rather take my chances losing the straw, have many that I have collected over the years.. Thumbs down to this idea, sounded good but execution is beyond poor

The smart straw is anything but - what a poorly designed product.

Have never had a problem like this before......works great, always has, BUT, had a can setting on a shelf in my storage room, not too hot or too cold, and it somehow leaked, a lot. Ate paint off of another can of whatever, dripped down the shelves and pooled onto other shelves and some plastic trays....hardened a little, was easy to scrape off with minimal effort, but actually pitted one plastic tray while another type of the same make was unharmed.....never had this happen before and have had cans set for multiple years, way longer than this one......???????????any ideas why?????

Doesn't work, can leaks at joint
No liquid comes out of the straw or the spray nozzle, instead it leaks from where the rotating joint meets the can and oozes out onto your hand.

Cans stop spraying half full
Great producer BUT I have 2 cans, half full which will not spray. Your site says this is common in this industry, then sell for half the price since we only get half the product to use.

Good product, top is NO good.
I now have 2 half full cans of this laying around. Ran out of propellant again, never had that problem with the original style can top. Guess i'll try the non-aerosol version hopefully that works. Sometimes I wonder if companies even test this stuff for more than a day.

I love WD-40, have for years, but my can stopped spraying! It's clogged! Anyone have that happen to them???? With the smart straw up or down, it just started to plug up! It's almost 1/2 full, but doesn't make the aerosol spray noise, how can I clear it? I clear hairspray nozzles by holding them under hot water, can I try that? Should I stick a pin in the hole? HELP!!! I refuse to throw it out, and won't buy a new can until I get an answer from you! Until I'm sure this won't happen again!

WD-40 is great, but Smart Straw not so great.
I have bought the WD-40 brand for years. Always liked how well it lubricates. The can it comes in though is just bad. I have owned 3 cans with the Smart Straw and never had one that works right. They all eventually start leaking down the straw and quit spraying.

I have bought several cans of wd-40 since they came out with this supposidly better 2 way spraying straw. I've yet to buy one that worked right. I do a lot of hunting & fishing so i use a lot of wd-40. Its always been my go to cleaner, moisture wicking, rust prevention & so on. I'm seriously considering switching though. Wish they'd left the spray part alone. Fix it people.

Great until it stopped spraying
I love WD 40 and use it for everything. Loosening rusty pliers, nuts and bolts etc. today I was in the middle of a project however and it stopped spraying. I had to go to the grocery store and buy a new can to finish redoing my iron park bench.

I have used WD-40 for years but am now buying other products because the smart straw doesn't work. I have bought several cans because I thought I just got a bad one, but they have all been bad. They leak all over my hand, the top constantly falls off and the pressure is all gone when the can is still 3/4 full. Very sad they didn't test it more before they put it on the market. I guess the company feels they don't need any repeat buyers.

I use WD40 for a variety of tasks as either a penetrant or to clean and dry electrical contacts. The smart straw can UPC# 079567100324 ran out of air with 40% of the fluid left in the can. Recommend staying away from this aerosol can.

Should make the can 1/4 smaller
I have purchased 2 of these "smart straw" WD40 cans - both of them leave about 1/4 of the product - will not dispense.\
Just went to cemetery to clean mothers headstone (WD-40 works great for that) and could not get the product to spray! So frustratingId.\
The old spray system worked for years - is this an improvement?

Was almost out of my last can of WD 40 so I bought a new one. I used the new Smart Nozzle can and it worked fine, went to use it a couple weeks later and the tiny washer fell out. Now it is useless. I would tell friends to steer clear of this design.

Have had 3 cans with so called smart straw. Try and use it, the liquid bubbles out the top of the can all over everything except where you need it to go. Must be a really poor testing team to put this junk on a good product.

The can does not work/spray
I've read the other reviews. The can I bought has been used once to spray some hinges, when I try to use it a week later it won't spray at all. As I hold the can to use it WD40 runs down the outside of the can. Its useless!

Spray valves quit working
I gathered together all seven cans of WD40 from my ranch and home and they all have quit working, most are still half or nearly full. I tried changing different valve sprayer nozzles, and nothing worked, even the can with the "Smart Straw" quit after only a few uses. Perhaps others on the Internet have had this problem.

sprays 2 ways no, more like sputters and drips.
The cans have a design flaw that allows the propellant to leak out and then instead of spraying they sputter and stop working, with half of the product in the can and no pressure.

I used this product - as I have done for several years now for cleaning the underside of the bonnet of my Morgan car. It gets rid of the underbonnet dirt and makes future cleaning easier. It is a must in my toolkit - If it moves and shouldn`t use gaffer tape, if it doesn`t move and should use WD40. Simple.

I used this to help loosen the screws in the back of my oven so I could replace my oven element. Screws were rusty and baked. The spray tube nozzle was easy to use and put WD-40 just on screws and not all over back of oven. Made the screws come out very easy. I am a woman and I use this product all the time. Thank you WD-40

I started using this product after reading some of your e-mails and am amazed at what I accomplished so far. The first things I sprayed were our garage door rollers which are now moving with ease and less noise. I eliminated coffee rings on our coffee table and then I sprayed all the joints on every pair of scissors in the house. Also fixed some squeaky hinges on some of our doors. Then on to all our garden tools and all I can say is that I am totally impressed with what a little WD-40 can do.
