I have arthritis in my hands and find it hard to use a manual stapler. This stapler is great it is easy to use and gets the job done with little effort.

Nice reload ability w/push button. Had bottom break off one and Swingline replaced. Very difficult to get full strip of staples reloaded. I usually have to break off ten staples to reload stapler.

We love our Swingline Optima staplers. We bought the first one and then liked it so much, we went back to the office supply store and bought one for each desk. Our organization regularly produces multi-page handouts and this stapler handles 20 or more pages without any trouble at all.

We've also noticed that it reduces the repetitive motion stress that happens when you are manually producing 40 or 50 sets of materials at a time.

I am a school teacher and used this stapler all year for projects, student papers, year end reports, etc. I did not have a single problem with this stapler and it is so easy to staple multiple sheets. Highly recommend

I purchased this stapler for my desk at work and I love it! It staples just as easy as it advertises for. Everyone who tries it on my desk wants it. I actually wrote my name on top of it in permanent marker to make sure it stays on my desk. Love it and would defiinitely would buy it again.

It was not hard to break the back part and now I cant open it to put more staples.

I am a light user stapler(2-4 boxes annually) however I love this stapler. It is easy to use with minimal effort, easy to load (although the first time it took me a few minutes to figure it out as I had thrown away the specs on it and couldn't remember). Something that I can depend on will give me consistent stapling for professional looking documents.

The stapler it self works great, but the stapler requires Optima staples but a full sleeve will not fit the device. So you waste staples!

My immediate response was it's a lot larger stapler than I expected, has a huge desktop footprint: 2 1/4" X 9 1/2", and is tall: 6"... I believe the dimensional information should be readily available. So far all I've done is given it a small test, stapled the cardboard box it came in four times, perfect performance! The stroke is a bit long but otherwise I am very satisfied... I actually purchesed this stapler primarily for compacting recyclable packaging so it takes less volume in the trash bin... stapling is faster and less laborious than using packaging tape... stapling is also a great stress reliever, especially with this monster! Replaced my ancient Rexel Matador.

I needed a stapler I didn't have to pound to get it to work. This has been a very easy stapler to use and not a crooked staple yet.

Product worked well but just broke with no reason. For the price, I thought it would be made better.

I work in a tax office with 15 employees and last year our manager purchased one of these staplers for each desk. They worked fine for that tax season. Now that the new season is starting we are having issues with these staplers jamming even though we are using the swingline optima staples, item# 35550. Already 2 of the staplers will not work at all. Very disappointed in the poor quality.

I loved this stapler until it was time to refill it the first time. Then I discovered that I had no idea how to open the stapler (and I've been opening Swingline staplers for years)!

In an effort to "make it work", I broke the small, relatively delicate, plastic protrusion (on the inside of the refill button) that SHOULD push a release lever (inside the back of the stapler). After the fact, I researched the problem online and found that I'm not the only one to have problems with refilling this stapler. :-[

The bottom line: Refill instructions should be ON THE STAPLER and, in my opinion, the release button itself should be of sturdier materials.

The reduced effort of using this stapler is appreciated, but standard size staples (1/4", the only size it uses), won't reliably staple 40 sheets - they're far too short. Even 25 sheets of 24lb paper are a gamble as to whether the staple will penetrate completely. And yes, I am using Optima Premium Staples.

I expected a better stapler. Instead I got a more expensive average one.

I purchased this stapler for my supervisor, because she was having a hard time using her other one. The other one she had would hurt her hand. I read the description of this one and thought it was worth a try. She finds it so much easier to use and I myself think it was very easy to put the staples in. I got worried when I ready those other reviews, but I think it has been of great quality. It came with no loose or broken parts and it also staples nicely and is very easy on her hand. I think it measures up to the Swingline standard.

Extra page stapling capacity and staples lie flat.

We had ordered 4 of these staplers for our office and were having some trouble with them (dysfunctional staplers are VERY frustrating). When we contacted Swingline they were very quick to help us sort out the issue and make sure that we have 4 working staplers in our office.

These staplers are working great, and we couldn't be happier! Every product line has some 'lemons', but what is nice is the quality of people behind the product!!

After a not-so-great experience with our first stapler, we were provided with a replacement which is had worked superbly! The replacement process was seamless and customer service was EXCELLENT! Thank you!

After my rather scathing review of the product, I was contacted nearly immediately by customer service. They promptly shipped us two replacement staplers for free. I returned our broken product so they could hopefully make some improvements. The replacements are holding strong, working great. This "excellent" review is more about the customer service than the product. Way to go Swingline for standing by your products.

A bit surprised to see so many negative reviews. I've used this stapler as my go-to stapler for the last two years in a busy law practice, meaning that I've used it thousands of times. It never jammed or not work properly. Highly recommend it.

This is an excellent stapler for larger packages. The only problem I initially had was that the stapler kept jamming and the strips of staples were too long so they had to be broken in half to fit. I read other reviews and others had the same issue. I found that my problem was that I didn't order the correct staples. Once I ordered the staples for this stapler, the strips fit perfectly and the stapler works great.

I just reloaded my Optima Desk Stapler and, like other users, had a small spring fall out of the stapler and onto the floor during this process. There is no obvious place where the spring goes. The stapler still works, but it does not seem as smooth as before. Can you help?

Can't figure out if it opens up to staple onto bulletin boards. If it has the capability, please advise.

This is my 2nd stapler that I have had under warranty. It seems the ones that they send me don't work properly. I loved this stapler, it was great, but I am very disappointed with the replacements ones that were sent to me. They seem to work once and then stop working. The first replacement I got, jammed the first time I tried to use it, the second replacement, worked once and that's it. It doesn't want to push the staples through the paper.

Works great at stapling large stacks of paper! Highly recommend

I'm a lawyer, and frequently need to staple documents in the 15-35 page range. Larger than that, it gets bound or the heavy-duty stapler. But as a desk stapler, I needed this.

Pros:
Staples 40 pages without a problem.
Staples flat, so no corner staple mountain in my binders.
Low effort, and solid outcome, whether on my desk or in my grip.

Cons:
Doesn't seem to hold a full row of staples.

**Make sure you use Optimum staples, not regular ones, as the corners and cut-angles are different.

ok just purchased this Stapler for our church Finance office, lots to staple.... However, I have a few things to touch base with....

1. The whole row of staples Do NoT Fit,... so I have two tiny pieces that I am sure will equal to a row when I finish off the tin.

2. I can not open the stapler to post items onto my Bulletin board.

3. For being compact, it is a heavy stapler. Not what it seems like it would be.

Well ,.... I am just going to have to seehow it all works out after reading the not so positive reviews.... now I am not 100 % sure on my purchase.....

This stapler is a sharp looking addition to my desk and not to mention it is an amazingly useful tool. First to catch my eye was the great pop of orange and then the sleek design. As I looked at the package I noticed that it stated with the use of Optima staples provided that I could easily staple 40 pages and I instantly scoffed at this idea. 40 pages, no way! So, I naturally put it to the test and it sure went through those 40 pages just as easy as it did 2 pages and they stuck! I was amazed! Though this stapler requires a bit of effort for just two pages the fact that the same amount of effort could go through forty pages was amazing! I look forward to putting this stapler to work for a long time coming!

I am an office manager and I have had my Optima 40 for over 2 years and I use it everyday. I handle the majority of my company's AR, invoices, sales orders and purchase orders, as well as audit our field team's time sheets, so I staple everywhere from 2 to 40 sheets regularly.

After 2+ years the torque/compression spring finally broke. I sent a simple and tactful email to this site's customer care and they are sending me a replacement.

I don't know why there are so many negative comments on here, because I have had a great experience with this stapler.

99% of my company's staplers are the Swingline brand and none of them have failed yet. Furthermore, I have purchased five Optima 40 staplers for my company (for those employees that do high-quantity stapling) and mine is the first to break. To be fair, mine is the oldest, but at least two others are not far behind.

I BOUGHT THIS STAPLER BECAUSE I NEEDED TO STAPLE PAPERS. IT DOES NOT DO THAT VERY WELL. IT JAMS 1 OUT OF EVERY THREE STAPLES. EVEN WITH THE STARTER STAPLES IT CAME WITH. IT JUST JAMMED TO WHERE I CANNOT EVEN UNJAMM IT MYSELF AND I WILL HAVE TO BUY A NEW STAPLER.

It is an awful stapler.
At most, it will staple together a 30-35 page document -nowhere close to the touted 70 pages.

Over all it is excellent. Very easy to use and handles sixty plus sheets easily without straining but works well on two sheets also. Exactly what I was looking for!

I work in a high volume insurance office where stapling documents is a constant and this stapler gets the job done! Service on one of our staplers was stellar as one broke and Swingline customer service sent a replacement for free!
