I've been shipping items from my home for 6 years due to on line selling, I learned early that Scotch is the only brand I can rely on for reliable and easy packing. I NEVER price compare for tape, I always buy Scotch no matter what might be on sale.
I recently discovered the Sure Start packing tape when I asked my mom to pick me up some SCOTCH packing tape at the store (yes I was specific about the brand). I was a new mom so running out with a baby was not as easy. She brought back the Sure Start packing tape, I always used the heavy duty so this was new for me. To my delight it met all of my packing needs and it was so quiet, I realized I wouldn't have to worry about it awaking the baby. I was free to pack to my hearts desire that night (and many nights since then) without any worries. Thank you for such a great product!

July 2013 I made a 4,000 mile journey across the country, having made that trip successfully without so much as one box fall apart or the tape peeling off, I am delighted that I purchased the Scotch Brand of Sure Start Shipping Packaging Tape.

Sure Start Shipping Packaging Tape is reasonably priced, sure there are cheaper brands of packaging tape but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for". Why settle for a cheaper quality of tape in the long run you won't be saving money if the tape does NOT stick or if the cheaper brand is hard to work with, even worse using twice the amount of packaging tape to ship your packages or move across the country trying to make sure the contents of the packages stays IN the package or box?

So for me in the future I will be looking for my shipping supplies from Scotch I will NOT be settling for a "cheap brand to do my shipping.

I use this as I see no alternative but am annoyed that I waste 50% of each roll trying to get it started from shredding on the POC dispenser. Can't you make a usable dispenser.

I use thise tape all the time and it's so convenient , unwinding quickly and strong so I can securely use less. I always have plenty on hand for items I must get out! It always looks professional.

Bought this tape in a 3 roll pack. Sorry now that i did. Not sticky enough, useless as a packaging tape. Worst feature is how easy tape comes off the roll. Picked it up and about 20 feet of tape on the floor as it rolled away.Had to buy different tape to complete  the packing job. Stay away. You have been warned.Would have rated zero stars if possible.

I have used 3M tape exclusively to ship 700 packages - very happy. Bought 2 rolls of Sure Start and HATE the stuff. It may be easy to start but doesn't stick. Load up on older product and then plan to switch to another brand.

I was also frustrated with this tape. Even though it says Shipping/Packaging tape, don't buy it (model 3450 tape) for paper or cardboard envelopes or boxes. It doesn't stay in place. It is very suitable to use on plastic packages.\

For boxes, use model 3650 tape (Long Lasting Storage Packing tape). The 3650 tape is much stickier and never falls off of boxes.\

My complaint to 3M is that they make many types of tape, and it's hard to tell which is suitable for which use. Even if you are just looking for packing tape.

This tape works well for taping boxes for shipping.  I like that it's a bit thicker than normal packing tape, on top of that it is very easy to start!\

Scotch brand packing tape is for sure my favorite. Doesn’t easily tear when it’s not supposed to and it’s so easy to find the end when it sticks back on the roll.

This sure start tape if great! It sticks just like the other kinds of shipping tape, but you know that loud ripping sound when you’re trying to tape up a box quietly in an office setting, only for it to be obnoxiously loud anyway? Well- not with this! It really is much quieter. A+++ 3M :)

Being familiar with their other shipping tapes, I was happy to evaluate ScotchВ® Sure Start Shipping Packaging Tape for free when 3M sent me a sample. The tape tears easily and quietly and doesn't fall back onto the roll leaving one to fumble to find the end. Additionally, the tape adheres well, so users can have peace of mind that their packages will remain securely sealed. In the past, I have made the mistake of purchasing discount brands, but the frustration (searching for the start of the roll after each tear, tape splitting, etc) is not worth it. 3M is the better option.

I usually purchase off-brand packing tape to save money, but when I got a chance to use this free sample from 3M - what a difference!  It sticks really well and worth paying for.

The 3M - ScotchВ® Sure Start Shipping Packaging Tape makes it easy to use for packaging boxes. The roll is easy to start, the tape stays in place and easy to glide over where I need to tape and removes and cuts off where I want to stop with a breeze. It's easy to start again because it leaves the tape in place to start taping again! The tape is pretty sturdy and durable, stays in place on the boxes and haven't need to double tape them since using this roll. I highly recommend the 3M - ScotchВ® Sure Start Shipping Packaging Tape. Finally I have found a shipping tape that does not stick to itself if it falls underneath the tab guides! No more picking with fingernails to find the lost end, only to have the product shred like other brands. Smooth and quiet unrolling, you will not have to play "tug of war" to commence dispensing. Cuts easily with a slight twist, saving fingers. I feel it has slightly less adhesive than other tapes, so be sure to apply some pressure while smoothing it out to ensure a secure seal. Thanks to 3M for providing me with a free sample so that I could share my thoughts with you!

1) It wasn't easy to unwind at first.  It took a while to determine where the roll of packaging tape starts.  The colored portion of the tape is not where the roll started.  The starting point was an inch away from the colored part of the tape.  That was confusing.\
2) I liked when the tape is torn off by the perforated blade, that the end can be held up on the packaging tape holder.  This must be the amazing fall-back tab technology.\
3) The packaging tape unwinds quietly.\
4) It would had been a nice touch if 3M shipped the package containing the packing tape with the actual packaging tape I was reviewing, but alas, 3M did not.

Got this as a free product to try. Wrapped a box with this Sure Start Scotch Shipping tape and it worked fabulously! It was quiet to use, easy to use, and simple. No struggling with the holder. Secure tape! Will buy! Thanks, 3M!

I ship a lot of packages that weigh about 6lbs each. It is important to find a packing tape that will hold shut and stick to the box. This definitely sticks well and does not require that I add extra tape to secure my package. The Sure Start feature is wonderful too, because I hate wasting time picking at the end of tape. It really works and I think it's a great feature.\

Have you ever been packaging up something to send to someone or even packing several boxes to ship and the loud, noisy sound coming from the tape dispenser was about to get on your last nerve? I know I have, and worse, I've even scared nearby family/friends because of the unexpected, loud, & obtrusive noise those packing tape dispensers make! Thanks to 3M's new Scotch Sure Start Packaging Tape, I no longer have to be concerned about that issue. In fact, I can do my packaging late at night and not have to worry about waking anyone up now! In addition to that, this tape starts and stops seamlessly without fraying or splitting! Not having to spend ten minutes trying to get the roll of tape back to an even rolling pattern when it splits/tears is wonderful! As busy as my schedule is a lot of days, it's so nice to have another tool/product that makes your life easier and more productive and the Scotch Sure Start Packaging Tape does just that and without compromising the excellent quality we already love with 3M Scotch Packaging Products! Needless to say, I'll definitely be stocking up on this new packing tape!!

Easy to pull from the roll, quiet when pulling and stays put on the box-couldn’t ask for more (especially the quieter pull).

This shipping tape is greatly improved! It is surprisingly quiet & so easy to dispense. It sticks really well & is holding up just as it should. I am very pleased.

I've been using 3M-Scotch shipping tape for years.  It's great quality, crystal clear, and easy to use.  How could it be improved?  Surprisingly, it was!  The Sure Start lives up to it's name  Each time I've used it, I haven't had to fumble with getting it started - something I was just accustomed to.  The coolest part though is the quick, smooth pull.  My first time using it I pulled as normal, and got a lot of tape.  Wow... it releases wonderfully smoothly and quietly.  I've mailed several packages with it now & it really makes packaging items simple. Received a free sample of this product from 3M.  Used it to tape medium sized moving boxes.  Was pleased with how well the tape held up on the box.  Did not come apart as some shipping tapes tend to do.  Definitely recommend this tape for your moving needs as well as your basic shipping needs.

First, what I like: the refillable plastic dispenser is superb. It's designed with little plastic tabs on either side, underneath the blade, so that after you cut off your preferred length of tape, the end of the tape no longer flops down on the roll, leaving you to have to turn the roll around and around until you find the start. I received a sample roll of the Sure Start tape and loved how easily it rolls across the package.  Most of all, I loved how quiet it was when dispensing.  I have used other tapes that are very noisy and hard to maneuver, but that is not the case with the Sure Start.  I will be buying this in the future.

This tape is strong as you can get for packing and shipping. Secures boxes without needing a ton of extra tape to insure closure. The only problem I had was starting the roll. The tape claims “sure start” which I had a problem with. Most heavy duty packing tape has a starting tab to get the roll going. I had 3 people in my house try to get this roll going, 3m, please use a paper starting tab on the beginning of the roll. That’s one of the most frustratingId things with any new tape roll.

It says easy start. Well I had a hard time at first getting the tape to lift off the first little part to start the roll. It took me 10 minutes to take my nail around it to catch to lift do that I could put it over the red part to start. Once I did that,  it was better. It was easy to hold  it and use one hand to seal the box.

This Scotch sure start shipping packaging tape exceeded my expectations.  So easy to unwind and use.  The tape was durable and held up even with heavy packages.  Would recommend to anyone using a different brand of packaging tape.

I am often shipping boxes and of all the packaging tapes this is so far the best one! It really sticks and keeps boxes closed, all my boxes were received with no issues.

I recently had to tape shut a large, heavy box.  Scotch Easy Unwind Packaging Tape made it simple.  It was easy to find the end of the roll of tape and it unwound smoothly using one hand.\

I got this as a free sample and found it to work just as promised.  You can "start" the roll easily and it dispenses smoothly.  Very convenient for sealing boxes for mailing, shipping, or moving.

I received the product sample for free from 3M to evaluate. The compact size is ideal for a small office area and it is much quieter than the standard hand held tape dispenser and heavy duty shipping tape. The tape itself is more pliable than what I traditionally use too. Personally I do find the larger hand held dispensers simply easier and faster to use overall, but this can do the job just as well with less noise.

This product was sent to me for review and I put it to work on a return shipment I needed to make. The tape came right off the roll easily, stuck fast, and was strong enough to handle the books banging around inside the box. Definitely helpful.

I received a roll of this Scotch Sure Start Shipping Packaging Tape free from 3M and was ready to put it to the test.  I have used it for a while now, since these pictures were taken upon taping up my first box with it.  I am happy to report that it works great.  The tape glides smoothly in the dispenser and tears cleanly with ease.  The tape adheres well to boxes and the like, but is surprisingly easy to re-start if you drop it and it sticks back to itself completely.  Definitely recommend!

This tape is excellent! As a single mom packing boxes is hard when your watching your kids. I wanted to pack at night but the tape roll would wake my daughter without fail. This product is quiet! It’s easy to rip with one hand. Strong as can be. And there’s a very nice amount on the roll.

I received this from #M to test, but I have bought it in the past.  It's my go to for packing boxes.  it's always the best for packing in that it stays stuck and with the dispenser it's easy to use.

I received this product free to review from 3M.  I thoroughly enjoyed this handy product.  I have shipped several packages over the past few months and this tape has been one of the easiest to use.  It performs as it says, it is easy to unwind and does not get tangled on itself.  I've really enjoyed using it and will purchase it once I have run out.
