I use scotch because it tkaes the worry out of the package opening unexpectedly.

I use this tape for shipping online orders for a year now. Very easy to use with the dispenser and cutting blade, never have to find the opening and scissors again. Strong and durable tape that holds the carton in great condition when it is delivered to the customer, even when the carton is huge and heavy! We often receive compliments on our packing, and thanks to Scotch for such a great product! This is the only shipping tape that we would ever use.

I use this as I see no alternative but am annoyed that I waste 50% of each roll trying to get it started from shredding on the POC dispenser. Can't you make a usable dispenser.

As advertised, this tape starts easily. Unfortunately, that's the only good thing I can say about it. It sticks very poorly, rendering it almost useless as shipping tape. It also cuts very poorly using a standard shipping tape dispenser, perhaps because it comes off the roll so easily and thus doesn't provide enough tension for the dispenser to work. Ultimately, I'm extremely dissatisfied with this product.

I have used 3M tape exclusively to ship 700 packages - very happy. Bought 2 rolls of Sure Start and HATE the stuff. It may be easy to start but doesn't stick. Load up on older product and then plan to switch to another brand.

I love this sure start tape.  It is easy to use and sticks well. A few times I had to go the the library to print shipping labels as my printer was not working.  When I used a different 3M Scotch tape I was told I was making too much noise inside the library.\
This tape is great for packages and shipping labels. I only wish I could still find it in the 22.2 yd size

I was also frustrated with this tape. Even though it says Shipping/Packaging tape, don't buy it (model 3450 tape) for paper or cardboard envelopes or boxes. It doesn't stay in place. It is very suitable to use on plastic packages.\

For boxes, use model 3650 tape (Long Lasting Storage Packing tape). The 3650 tape is much stickier and never falls off of boxes.\

My complaint to 3M is that they make many types of tape, and it's hard to tell which is suitable for which use. Even if you are just looking for packing tape.

Nice to be able to purchase this packing tape roller without investing in bigger more expensive type products.  Very handy and easy to use.

I received this sample from 3m just in time. I had just run out of my the store brand tape I had bought. I sell online a lot and this is the best packaging tape I have used. Thanks 3M another great product!!

I used Scotch Sure Start Shipping Packaging Tape recently for the first time to send a package to a friend. With other brands that I've used in the past, the package has arrived in fairly good condition but the tape I had used to hold the label on had come off or bled in the rainy weather, and on some occasions the package had been returned to me because it had come open during shipping. I didn't have any of those issues this time when I used Scotch Sure Start Shipping Packaging Tape! The label stayed attached and withstood rain water, the contents were intact and the box did not come untapped! Also starting this roll of tape was  easier than other kinds. This one didn't rip and come off in small pieces or strips, which can be incredibly annoying. Definitely going to be stepping my packaging tape game up with more Scotch Sure Start Shipping Packaging Tape!

I ship a lot of packages that weigh about 6lbs each. It is important to find a packing tape that will hold shut and stick to the box. This definitely sticks well and does not require that I add extra tape to secure my package. The Sure Start feature is wonderful too, because I hate wasting time picking at the end of tape. It really works and I think it's a great feature.\

This shipping tape is greatly improved! It is surprisingly quiet & so easy to dispense. It sticks really well & is holding up just as it should. I am very pleased.

This tape arrived just in the nick of time!  I was already in the process of packing up to move and had grabbed some tape from the same place I got boxes...let's just say, it was pretty lackluster!  As soon as it arrived, I started using this packaging tape and the experience was MUCH IMPROVED.  I've always liked Scotch-brand tape because it performs well and after using a different brand, I don't think I'll ever switch.  I only had to tape the boxes along the seams once and I never felt like they would fall apart.  Also, this version was much easier to unwind and tear than previous versions, so the upgrade is great!  I will continue using this tape as I pack and once this roll runs out I will definitely purchase more!

Love this packaging tape.  It is comes off of the roll well and dispenses easily from the dispenser.  The dispenser cuts it easily which makes it easy to apply where you need it.  It also holds well in shipping or on boxes that you are just packing up to store.  I highly recommend this tape.  It lives up to the great Scotch name.

This tape is strong as you can get for packing and shipping. Secures boxes without needing a ton of extra tape to insure closure. The only problem I had was starting the roll. The tape claims “sure start” which I had a problem with. Most heavy duty packing tape has a starting tab to get the roll going. I had 3 people in my house try to get this roll going, 3m, please use a paper starting tab on the beginning of the roll. That’s one of the most frustratingId things with any new tape roll.

I received the product free from 3M.  The tape is easy to start and get going around boxes.  It is thicker than other tape I have used so it should hold up well during shipping.  I like that the dispenser can be refilled.  I also like that it is made in the USA.  I would buy it again the next time I need more tape.

This is the only shipping tape I use. No other brand matches this. Easy to use, goes on easy and keeps my packages secure.

This tape is easy to peel off from the roll once you find an edge and is palpably thick and robust. Seems like it would have good tensile strength. \

I had no trouble peeling it off the roll, which was a totally unprecedented experience. It was remarkable how I only had to try to find the edge once, and once I did the tape would simply come off. With other tape, I look for the edge with a fingernail, then use my fingernail to get under it. This usually tears and offers a sliver of usable tape, so the "fingernail digging" process must be repeated several times until the sliver is big enough to get the full width of tape elevated. Once you elevate Sure Start tape, it has a reduced tendency to fall back down and even when it does, it tends not to lay perfectly flat so it is easy to find the edge again.\

Adhesion to a standard corrugated cardboard box was strong but not extraordinary. Some tape, like Scotch Heavy Duty, seems to stick and lay flat on just about any surface. I felt confident with the hold and the workability of the Sure Start tape, but it was not a "knock my socks off" kind of hold. Still way better than the budget, extra-thin tape that I have used in the past where the ends would start to peel off from the package spontaneously. For shipping something heavy, I would still be included to overlap the tape and complete a full revolution around the box so that you have tape-on-tape contact keeping your box closed rather than just tape-on-box contact.\

As one might imagine, some compromise between adhesion to a box and cohesion between the layers of a roll has to be stricken. This tape does a good job of that. The cohesion is easy to overcome beyond compare, which is really this tape's biggest selling point. As far as adhesion to packaging, this tape does OK.

Always have had problems in the past with finding the end of the roll of tape. Sure Start Shipping Packaging Tape is easy to use product and makes taping boxes simple.

I received the product sample for free from 3M to evaluate. The compact size is ideal for a small office area and it is much quieter than the standard hand held tape dispenser and heavy duty shipping tape. The tape itself is more pliable than what I traditionally use too. Personally I do find the larger hand held dispensers simply easier and faster to use overall, but this can do the job just as well with less noise.

I use this Shipping Tape for everything around the house. The dispenser is easy to use and doesn't get bound up like the smaller style does. It's easy to pull and cut. The tape is nice and strong and I know it will hold up. I like to online shop so I'm constantly returning things. I need a good shipping tape to box up my returns. I always go with Scotch Shipping Tape!

This tape is excellent! As a single mom packing boxes is hard when your watching your kids. I wanted to pack at night but the tape roll would wake my daughter without fail. This product is quiet! It’s easy to rip with one hand. Strong as can be. And there’s a very nice amount on the roll.

I received this from #M to test, but I have bought it in the past.  It's my go to for packing boxes.  it's always the best for packing in that it stays stuck and with the dispenser it's easy to use.

These smaller width rolls of ScotchВ® Sure Start Shipping Packing Tape, 1.88"W x 25 yds., Clear, 6 Rolls, are well priced and much less wasteful than the larger width rolls. I highly recommend them

As someone who has a toddler who’s inexplicably terrified of packaging tape noise, this one is great! Seems to hold strongly and can find the start easily. Is it the best value? I’m not sure. \
